This is a picture I took a week ago when the humidity was simply oppressive but the beauty of the clouds made my heart soar. It’s not often that any of us can sit back and have a few minutes where we are not afraid of deadlines, writer’s block, fear of rejection and so many more. I could truly go on and on. But then I look at the sky and think about how endless it is and it reminds me that I have endless possibilities to write whatever it is that I want to write that day. I have so many short stories/books/poems started that I could truly find myself stressing out considering what all I have yet to finish. And then, once again, I look up at the sky and know that I will finish what I am supposed to finish and the rest of it will just sit there for another day’s work. Writing full time can be daunting. There is so much pressure to publish. If you tell someone that you are an author you better have a good answer to the question as to why you aren’t published yet. Non-writers try to look at the career of writing through a looking glass that they truly can’t understand. That’s ok, though, because when they tell me they are an accountant or a business person – I look at them with the same expression. Writing is a part of who we are. We can’t change it and if we could – would you really want to? So what if someone calls us crazy for not having a non-traditional job. Steve Jobs actually praises those who go for what they want. “Here’s to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes…” So, let’s be those crazy ones and go after our dreams. Figure out what you want to write next and DO IT! Only you are stopping yourself from fulfilling your dreams.
